Serving all of Northern Virginia, RC Drafting, Inc. is a residential architectural design and drafting service that provides drawings required for building permits and for use during construction. RCD offers a low cost flat rate alternative to more expensive Architectural firms that may charge a percentage of the construction cost. By keeping the design fees lower, more funds can be directed to the actual construction cost of the project.
It is completely understandable that any home renovation project can be intimidating, frustrating and scary. RC Drafting will work very hard to guide you through the initial process, answer all your questions and work in a timely fashion to alleviate any anxieties you may have. Our Process
Whether you want a new deck or to turn your one story rambler into a two story colonial, the process is the same. It starts with a free site visit where we get to know you and understand your wants and needs. We will discuss your vision, kick around some ideas and point out any possible hurdles. Many times, an estimate for our services can be given at this time.
Once hired, and sometimes during the initial visit, measurements and relevant building information will be taken. From there, existing drawings and preliminary drawings will be developed. These designs will be presented to you either at a meeting or through e-mail. These forms will be in the form of either simple floor plans and elevations or if needed, 3D renderings.
When a design has been agreed on, the final construction drawings will be developed. These drawings are what is needed to obtain a building permit and for a qualified general contractor to build from. These drawings will have all the structural information and code compliance requirements as issued by your local government.
We recommend that all permits be pulled by a licensed contractor. RCD will gladly assist you in finding a suitable contractor for your project. It is important to select one not based on price alone, but references and quality of work.
